Destiny has found her way home!
|

Meet Destiny, a 1 1/2 year-old German Shepherd / Yellow Lab cross. She's had
quite the life in her short time here. Deborah bought this dog when she was just a
puppy. The whole family immediately fell in love with Destiny's desire to please
and love her human counterparts. She's friendly, well behaved, and wants
nothing more then to love you to death. Unfortunately, this dog was going to be in
for a bumpy ride. July 4th, 2007, Deborah's house was burglarized. Many family
possessions were missing, but none so dear than the dog they had grown to love
as part of the family. Destiny was gone, her collar tossed aside, as an empty
reminder of the violation this family suffered.
Deborah and her family immediately set to work trying to find her. Fliers went up
everywhere, she called Home Again Microchip to report she had been stolen. But
as the months went by, no sign of this family's beloved pet was found. Until one
fateful day....
On Thursday, June 12th, we received a phone call from Michelle. She reported
she had just picked up a dog that was standing smack dab in the middle of the
road. She wanted to come in and have the animal scanned to see if it had a
microchip. Upon arrival we scanned the dog and found she did indeed have a
microchip implanted under the skin in the area of her shoulder. We called Home
Again and they released the owner's information to us. We called the owner and
to our astonishment, found that the dog had been missing for nearly a year! We
all excitedly waited for Deborah's arrival to witness this joyous reunion. Once she
arrived it was tears across the board for all involved, including the staff. We
were all so happy to see owner and dog reunited after such a long time apart.
The lesson learned from this heartwarming story is one Deborah and Michelle had
already prepared for. Deborah had Destiny microchipped as a puppy and it paid
off ten times over. Michelle knew what to do and who to call when she found a
stranded animal. These two animal lovers were prepared for the worst and
because of it, they were able to return a pet to its family and home.
Michelle and Deborah want all pet owners to hear Destiny's story so they can
take the precautions necessary to bring their four-legged family members home in
case they are missing.
